Wear a thin pad or a pantyliner to be on the safe side. It won't hurt anything to wear one if you don't end up getting your period that day, and will help protect your clothing.

You'd probably also realize you had it before you managed to bleed very much, you'll feel the moisture (of course, you'll probably also run to the bathroom countless times when you feel any random moisture thinking it started... or maybe that's just me!).

An irregular period is totally normal the first couple of years you have it, so it helps to start paying attention to your body and how it feels around the time you do get it so you can start to recognize those signals instead of relying on a calendar. (Of course, if you're sexually active, being late can be a sign of pregnancy and it wouldn't be a bad idea to take a pregnancy test if your'e a week late or so.)

LOVE UR NAME ITS MY MIDDLE LOL BUT ANYWAY PUT A PAD AT UR HOUSE ON AND JUS CAUSE U GET U HAVE PROTECTION OR CARRY IT IN UR PRUSE OR POCKET
Use a pad before you go to school, if you typically use tampons, take one with you in your backpack or an extra pad if you use those. Dont' put a tampon in before you actually start, just keep it with you. That can cause a very dangerous illness called Toxic Shock Syndrome, so wait until you need it if that's what you use.
bring and wear a tampon or pad
